Seeing life through a “Bird Eye View”: A lyrical conversation with Hayden Everett

Date:

Spring is officially here as Seattle-based folk artist Hayden Everett releases his newest single “Bird Eye View.” It’s the latest preview of his upcoming debut album, So The Sun Can Pour, out April 17.

“Bird Eye View” is a stripped-back, acoustic-driven single with minimal production, allowing for a more raw, vulnerable, and intimate moment for listeners.

This song also has an interesting backstory. “Bird Eye View” was inspired by a conversation Hayden had with a blind passenger whilst giving boat tours in Glacier National Park. The conversation with the man illuminated how he “viewed the world around him,” giving the artist a new perspective and appreciation of beauty beyond the physical sight of it.

Following the releases of earlier singles “Killer Whale” and “Angela,” each one introduces the album’s tone of deep, grounding emotional duality, peaceful reflection and subtle tension.

Everett had this to share about the the upcoming album:

A central theme emerged: duality… Summer needs winter. Joy needs sorrow. Day needs night. When love is real, grief is simply the proportional result of how deeply we cared – and somehow, the love is always worth it. The alternative is stagnance and apathy. So let it rain so the sun can pour…. I wrote many of the songs deep in the woods hiking alone, often needing to sing while walking to alert the grizzlies…The stories were gathered through conversations in the park and long stretches of solitude, reflecting on how the world spins.”

Coming into 2026 with a poised and elegant demeanor, much more can be expected from Everett. Stream “Bird Eye View” now.
