If you’ve been craving more of Hayley Williams‘ smooth, enchanting vocals and have yet to find the band Power Snatch, you have been majorly missing out. Power Snatch debuted earlier this year, a collaboration between Williams and Daniel James, who produced Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party.
They debuted with the release of EP1 in February and have been featured on tracks with Tiberius B and This Is Lorelei. Now, the duo has returned with a new project, EP2.
The band announced the EP on their Instagram with the new song “Machete” playing over scenes from the 1970s surrealist animated film Fantastic Planet. EP2 is available to stream exclusively through Bandcamp and YouTube, consisting of 4 dreamy tracks reminiscent of 90s alt-rock.
This new EP feels like the second half of Ego Death, think “I Won’t Quit On You” and “Negative Self Talk,” but taken a step deeper and stranger. There’s more of a trip-hop spin and grit to the songs on EP2, especially in comparison to the tracks on EP1.
Williams and James have found their rhythm with one another on this EP. The blend of their voices together is nothing short of hypnotic and the surrealism in the production sets the duo apart from others in the genre. These two EPs show a promising start for Power Snatch, and who knows: with how quickly the pair has been moving, maybe we will receive a full-length album soon.
