London-based alternative artist Tally Spear has just release her newest single “Bittersweet,” the title track for her new EP. The EP is a collection of five songs that capture raw pop-punk sounds in a way that is vulnerable, energetic, and introspective.
“Bittersweet” boasts a high-octane arrangement that is a beautiful juxtaposition to its lyrics. The anthemic track was inspired by a book by the same name, which led Tally Spear to express how it feels to encounter joy after a period of loss. She says,
“After you’ve been through a loss or a tragedy, every smile or piece of good news feels bittersweet, like you can’t any longer have the sweetness without the undertone of bitter nestling close by.”
Tally Spear is one of the newest rising stars in London’s rock scene. She is known for her candid songwriting and emotionally charged sound, making her one of alt-pop’s most compelling rising voices.
