Barb looks for “Someone Like June”

Date:

Releasing her fifth career single, Barb continues to prove that her pivot from D1 athletics to a music career was the right choice.

After four years rowing competitively at a D1 school Barb picked up a guitar and began creating and releasing music. Her most recent track, “Someone Like June” explores how waiting for the right person to come along is a required step for a meaningful relationship.

The song begins with an electric guitar riff that sets the tone for the indie-rock sound that unfolds. The idea of “June” becomes a symbol of discovered and undiscovered love while the narrative centers around this idea that one must wait for the perfect companion. Barb sings, “Usually I give in easily / To anyone and anything / I finally learned my lesson.”

“Someone Like June” was recorded in a bedroom studio in her hometown of Austin, Texas where she plans to return for an upcoming EP release party. From recording the single to performing the EP, Barb displays her growth and potential as an indie rock artist.
