Bang Bang Jet Away today releases Your Warm Bath, the indie rock duo’s new ten-song album, available now via Earthling Records. Written between Marseille, France, and San Diego, California, the record is rooted in a deeply personal chapter of singer-songwriter Matthew Binder’s life, transforming heartbreak, displacement, and the experience of starting over into an intimate collection of songs.
The album features ten tracks, including the title song “Your Warm Bath,” along with “Oh You Silly Boy” and “I’ll Take the Blame This Time.” Together, the songs chronicle a period that reshaped both Binder’s personal life and the band’s latest creative work.
The story behind Your Warm Bath began in the spring of 2024, when Binder moved from the United States to a small village outside Geneva, Switzerland, to join his longtime girlfriend on her family’s farm. Although hopeful about building a future together, he faced the challenges of adapting to a new country where he spoke little French, had few employment opportunities, and struggled to establish a life of his own.
In October 2025, Binder left Switzerland for what was intended to be a two-week trip to Lyon. While he was away, his girlfriend of four years ended their relationship over the phone. Rather than return to Switzerland to collect his belongings before moving back to the United States, Binder continued south to Marseille, where he remained for the next six months.
During that time, Binder collaborated remotely with longtime Bang Bang Jet Away bandmate and producer Mike Kamoo on the songs that would become Your Warm Bath. Recorded remotely between Marseille and Kamoo’s San Diego studio, the album reflects the emotions and experiences that emerged during Binder’s months in southern France while highlighting the creative partnership that has defined Bang Bang Jet Away for more than a decade.
“The breakup was probably the worst experience of my life,” says Binder. “I didn’t sleep a wink for four months and lost twenty pounds from an already skinny frame. But at least my French improved, and we got an album out of it.”
