PLVTINUM explores possessive relationships with “DIE4MYBITCH”

Date:

Capturing the attention of the impressionable post-adolescent audience with songs about sex, nihilism, and party culture, PLVTINUM has emerged as a significant force in the alt-pop realm.  He came onto the scene in 2016 when his single “Champagne & Sunshine” went viral, and he has continued to release genre-bending solo singles and collaborations with artists like POORSTACY, Goody Grace, and Chase Atlantic.  His outspoken music and anti-popstar persona have led to over 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify and over 1 billion streams total, which will surely expand after he releases his upcoming EP in the fall.  Serving as an introduction to this new EP is “DIE4MYBITCH,” the first single from the project.

On “DIE4MYBITCH,” PLVTINUM exploits his possessive tendencies in relationships.  Over a cinematic production that melds hip-hop with R&B components, he lists the ways he shows off his girl in public while wanting others to stay away.  He sings, “I might be borderline possessive / But I know that you like it when I put my name in diamonds on your necklace,” before telling us, “I ride for my bitch / I cry for my bitch” in the chorus.  You can listen to it below.

Giving us more details about the single, PLVTINUM shares,

“On one hand, my instinct to engage in possessive behavior can be destructive to my relationships, on the other, it can lead to elevated passion and loyalty.  This song acts as a device for cathartic expression – instead of attempting to rationalize my more unsavory attributes, I lean into them.”

You can listen to “DIE4MYBITCH” on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
