Caroline Romano sings about new love on “Chopstix”

Date:

Earlier this year, we fell in love with Caroline Romano’s debut album, Oddities & Prodigies.  Its 16 tracks made it a lengthy listen, but Caroline had much to say.  Throughout the album, she told us about love, loss, adventure, fear, and the undeniable notion to embrace all she is – even if she has no idea what that entails.  Her sincere vocals and impeccable songwriting make her a relatable force of nature, connecting with those who have been in her shoes plenty of times before.  On her new single, “Chopstix,” Caroline uses her acute skills to sing about new love.

Casual and intimate, “Chopstix” is the perfect representation of what it is like to fall for someone.  Using her careful attention to detail, Caroline paints small vignettes of her time spent with this person, mentioning the “band-aids over sunburns” or “ice cream on the sidewalk.”  After such specifics, she claims, “I kinda like your vibe,” indicating that these moments were the ones that made her realize her true feelings.  You can check it out below.

Telling us more about “Chopstix,” Caroline explains,

“‘Chopstix’ is kind of that beginning stage of infatuation and heartbreak, but it’s also really just a happy song.  It’s finding things to reminisce on once it’s all over, and falling for the smallest, most specific things about a person.  I write a lot about the aftermath of songs like ‘Chopstix,’ but this song is the prequel to the best and worst of romance.  It’s young and clean and feels like childhood summers combined with late-night dinners following a day full of swimming.”

You can listen to “Chopstix” on platforms like Apple Music and Spotify.
