Nicole Rayy gives us our next summer anthem with “Last Ones Up”

Date:

For the past ten years, Nicole Rayy has been captivating those in the country music scene through releases like her debut EP, Only Everything, and her debut album, Dig.  Her music brings people together, especially when she plays festivals like The Calgary Stampede or Shanghai’s World Music Festival.  In 2020, Nicole released her All Woman EP, which contained a mix of sounds and genres that further expanded her fanbase.  The title track even became a feminist anthem and inspired her to create the online platform All Woman Music in an attempt to give more performance opportunities to female artists.  Nicole is definitely a driven artist; it is a wonder how she is able to do it all.  However, with her new single “Last Ones Up,” we learn that she is one for putting sleep to the side in order to experience as much as possible.

On “Last Ones Up,” Nicole gives us the ultimate night owl anthem.  Featuring a spirited country pop sound and Nicole’s powerhouse vocals, the track explores those timeless moments when the world is quiet and the possibilities are endless.  Nicole sings, “We got the rest of our lives to sleep” and “Everybody else is missing out,” making us want to stay up forever.  You can check out the music video below.

About the track, Nicole explains,

I have never been the queen of writing the party song because I always wanted to share music that I am really emotionally connected to.  I was never sure how to strike the balance between true to me and a fun good time song.  After staying up all night with some friends, for the thousandth time in my life, I was inspired and came up with the title ‘Last Ones Up.’  I was so excited to take it to the writing team of ‘Feels Like Yesterday’ (David Madras and Matt Teed) to write a party song that truly feels like me.  And whether you are always a night owl or you’ve only done it once, I think we can all relate to being the last ones up.  I hope this can be your new party anthem!

You can listen to “Last Ones Up” on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
