Halsey and Marshmello Promote Kindness on New Track

Date:

There are a lot of new songs coming out into the world right now, with the intention of making people feel better during this challenging time.  We have the tracks that directly relate to the pandemic, touching on social distancing, promoting wellness, or describing the strangeness of the situation.  And then there are the tracks that do not really have anything to do about the pandemic at all, but serve as a way to get your mind off what is happening.  On their newest single, “Be Kind,” Halsey and Marshmello blend these two entities into one, creating a track that is not necessarily about the quarantine, but has an applicable message.

For the most part, the track is a cool combination of opposites.  The verses are smooth and mellow, while the choruses are rhythmic and bright.  We feel defeated when Halsey sings, “I don’t know why you hide from the one / And close your eyes to the one / Mess up and lie to the one that you love,” but then feel comforted when she continues, “When you know you can cry to the one / Always confide in the one / You can be kind to the one that you love.”  It is expertly crafted, with Halsey’s defiant timbre complimenting Marshmello’s slick production in a beautiful way.

Kindness is always welcomed, and a little bit of it can go a long way.  It can be so easy to forget this in times of darkness, especially during this time.  But, if we just stay open, stay honest, and be kind, then we will find ourselves living in a much better world.
