“confused” is about starting a new relationship. Through supportive bass and vulnerable lyrics, philine processes the various emotions she feels towards a new partner. Lyrics such as “We see things so differently / You save the world, I try to sing in key / You’re losing sleep over a planet, got me questioning what matters / In a subtle way you’re changing me” show how this new partnership has changed philine’s perspective, causing her to experience new feelings.

Sharing more about the inspiration behind “confused,” philine comments:

“I wrote ‘confused’ about a girl I was dating. She wasn’t really the type I’d usually go for and I just couldn’t figure out how I felt about her. I tried to capture what I felt for her, but it was too early for me to give a name to it. So instead of figuring it out, I wrote a song about it, and about how confusing the early stages of dating someone can be.”
