Fans of lo-fi indie music will love new indie sensation OAKLND and his latest single, “airport.” The artist utilizes emotional lyricism and intricate synth sounds, similar to those created by the likes of producer Holly Humberstone.
Since he released his debut single in 2017, “hold on,” OAKLND has steadily built a solid and loyal fanbase, continuing to transform his ideas into reality through these very in-depth songs. The most popular song out of his discography so far, “guess ur doing fine” featuring Lyncs, has amassed over 170,000 streams on Spotify.
“airport” is the third track off of the artists’ upcoming EP, Chicago. This song in particular, and the overarching theme of the EP as well, takes form from the inspirational story of a girl experiencing a post-college breakup after moving to Chicago as seen in the lyrics: “Now I’m crying / ’cause I heard that you found someone / And the only thing that I found’s your t-shirt in my closet / Still got the stain on the front from the last time you wore it / August was hard, the month that you’re leaving / drove me to the airport / you said ‘see you ’round’ / but I’ll never see you now.”
