If the Disney Channel Original Movie How to Build a Better Boy and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild” had a baby, you would get “Making a Man” by Brooke Taylor.
The upbeat synths and kick drum create a catchy melody that’s easy to dance to in this song. “A pinch of chivalry / A dust of decency / And some will to succeed / A whole lot of therapy,” Taylor sings in the bridge, revealing her checklist for making the perfect man.
“Making a Man” is Taylor’s 17th single, produced by Taylor Sparks, a Los Angeles-based producer. The two artists have worked together on several of Taylor’s recent singles.
“Making A Man started as a saucy storyboard idea in my head!!” Taylor wrote in the caption of her announcement post. Some of the best songs create vivid imagery in the heads of listeners, and this track is no exception, as Taylor sings, “Got blueprints on the table / I’ll fix him if I’m able.” It’s almost as if we can picture the instruction book for a LEGO set that requires building a man.
If you’ve ever wanted to change someone (it’s only human), Brooke Taylor has the perfect song for you.
