Through the thick and the thin of industry hash and tarnish, Barns Courtney has released an electrifying live version of “The Kids,” a fan favorite reimagined live, from the road.
Along with the live track, Courtney has announced his upcoming live album, Lived and Wired, due out June 19th. The release arrives via Virgin Records in partnership with Avenue A, marking a new, independent chapter for Courtney as he continues to evolve creatively.
Courtney recorded Lived and Wired, while on a co-headlining tour with The Struts. It’s a fiery, passionate live album that gives a raw, authentic voice and soul to Courtney’s songs that fans already know and love, but they’re amped up and multiplied by ten. Stripping away studio polish in favor of sweat, grit, and real-time connection, the live recordings capture the chaos and catharsis that define Courtney’s shows, turning each track into a shared, explosive moment between artist and fans.
The heart-thumping live version of Courtney’s song “The Kids Are Alright” makes listeners want to scream at the top of their lungs with pure excitement for rock and roll. Courtney performs every song, every lyric, with pure heart and soul, shelling himself to show his adoring fans the best version of him. This reimagined version of the song leans fully into that chaos, with his vocals pushed to the brink alongside a crowd that sounds just as loud as he does.
Along with the live version of the song, Courtney released an accompanying music video that showcases his favorite moments during the tour, stitching together iconic moments from his performances. From interactions with fans to being on the road and everything in between, the music video is a true homage to his time on the road and how much fun and full of light the experience was.
Even through years of label collapses, stalled contracts, debt, and industry setbacks, Courtney’s songs always seep through the cracks by pure heart and dedication to the craft, which keeps fans wanting more. The electricity of vigor and excitement in Courtney’s voice is something that the music scene needs right now: someone like Courtney to shake up the industry, upside down and rightside up, with his passion and excitement for the creation of music and sharing it with the world.
Courtney is about to shake up the music scene even more with his new album, Lived and Wired, coming out this summer, and you can catch him live throughout North America, the UK, and Europe over the next few months. Tickets are available here.
