Muo Duo’s exciting and eccentric sound takes shape on debut album closer “Cloud End”

Date:

The New-York-hailing brother-sister pair Muo Duo is making waves in the alternative pop scene with their new funk-pop album Grammy Bait. The standout track on the album is its final track, “Cloud End.”

Incorporating a blend of disco, pop and groovy indie rock, the duo, composed of Miles and Winter Donnelly, makes music that feels like outer space, like dancing with your closest friends, like splattering colorful paint throughout a canvas. Fantastical, authentic lyricism spearheads each of their songs.

“Cloud End” packs a punch with its combination of unfiltered confessional lyricism, superb vocals and extreme creativity. Lyrically, this closing track pairs unique word choice with clear storytelling.

The track’s calling card that will put Muo Duo on the map is its changing musical pulse throughout, as it transitions between production styles, key changes, and the quick moments of silence that keep the listener anticipating the duo’s next move.

The song is an imaginative experience; its verses are like chapters of a storybook that culminate in an enticing and satisfying ending. Mixing unique harmonies, soulful backing vocals, a fashionable French horn line, and riveting rhythm, you wish the song would go on forever.

Miles and Winter create a visual image of off-beat fashion and artistic direction that makes them a most colorful daisy in a field of monotonous flowers that usually make up today’s indie.
