Connecticut post-hardcore band Montclair has officially announced their upcoming self-titled EP, set to drop September 25th via New Morality Zine (Make Do and Mend, Chico). To kick off the announcement, Montclair shared the record’s lead single, “Eyesight” — a less-than-two-minute burst of urgent, shifting chords and raw energy that lives in the sonic space for fans of Thursday, Thrice, and Planes Mistaken for Stars.
Despite its brief runtime, “Eyesight” packs a punch, layering passionate clean-and-screamed vocals over a driving rhythm section. It also showcases a noticeably dialed-in sound for the band, backed by a stacked production team featuring Greg Thomas, Nick DeMichele, Chris Teti, and mastering by Bill Henderson.
“This song is about finding and taking hold of your true self and not succumbing to society’s pressures to conform,” the band explains. “It’s about trusting yourself as your guiding light… and not living in fear of others’ judgments.”
