Momma releases “Bottle Blonde,” the third single from their upcoming album

Date:

Indie rock band Momma is getting ready to release their fourth album, Welcome to My Blue Sky, via Polyvinyl Records. Since the announcement, we have gotten a string of singles, the latest being “Bottle Blonde.” Written as a callback to to their then-newly crazy lives living on the road and touring their last album (their first big tour), the new single boasts an accompanying music video of compiled road footage from 2022 to 2024.

With Momma’s last album Household Name leaning into a grungier, rock-forward sound, it would be easy to assume or expect a heavier sound from the fourpiece’s new album, but “Bottle Blonde” goes the opposite direction. The track features clean vocals and a punchy, pop-like production all around, held together by a lightly backing beat. The song is short, coming in at just under three minutes, but it’s punctuated by a memorable anthemic chorus as well as strong personal lyrics. On the new album Momma adds,

“…Welcome to My Blue Sky, lays bare all of the precious and all of the ugly experiences of falling in and out of love, and the art of keeping secrets.”

“Bottle Blonde” is indicative of this message. Highlighting struggles on tour between the two core founding members and consequentially working them out through songwriting, “Bottle Blonde” and its video give fans a look inside the life of Momma after a quick rise to fame in the indie rock world.

Stream “Bottle Blonde” and watch the music video below. Momma’s new album Welcome to My New Blue Sky is out everywhere on April 4th.
