Formed by Daniel Davison, Mike Weiss, and Bryan Taylor, the new supergroup Unless will unveil their debut single and music video, “Sun Gone Low,” on August 14.
The project joins three musicians with deep roots in alternative music. Davison, known for his work with Norma Jean, Underoath, and Every Time I Die, brings experience as both a drummer and songwriter. Weiss, co-founder of mewithoutYou, contributes distinctive guitar work and songwriting, while Taylor adds a melodic vocal approach shaped by his background in experimental music.
Together, they draw from their collective backgrounds without being confined by them, blending their respective influences into atmospheric sounds with melodic elements that feel both familiar and distinctly their own.
“Sun Gone Low” will serve as the first peek at that vision, accompanied by a music video filmed in Philadelphia in December of 2025. The band shot on a rooftop in freezing conditions, and between takes, had to repeatedly retreat inside to protect themselves against the winter weather. Projected video imagery, a stark rooftop setting, and the cold atmosphere ultimately became a natural visual extension of the track itself.
For those eager to hear and see the project first, the band is offering an early peek at the video. On Thursday, August 13, at 5 p.m. ET, Unless will send a private link to the music video to anyone who has joined their mailing list and/or pre-saved the single here.
“Sun Gone Low” goes live on all streaming platforms at 12 a.m. EST on August 14, with additional music and videos from Unless expected in the coming months.
