joan share the intimacy of finding comfort in someone’s “space” on dreamy new single

Date:

Alt-pop duo joan have released the latest glimpse into their forthcoming album, this won’t last forever, with their sweet, ethereal new ballad “space.”

The slow, touching new single details finding solace in someone’s company. The sentiment goes beyond being in love with the person themselves and rather finds the duo singing about how much they cherish being in their presence. The track’s dreamy instrumental adds to its soft, intentional meaning with mellow guitars and a slowed drum beat on full display. Speaking on “space,” joan shares,

“This is a love song not just about someone, but about the space and energy they have around them when they’re near. There’s something extremely powerful about the non-physical aspects of love, and this song is trying to capture that. This song is a love letter to someone to show them how much better of a person they make us: ‘Call it a dream, I see you in my sleep / Call me your moon, I revolve around you / Call me insane, I’m in love with your space.’ This song is part of the endless search to try to put into words how much they mean to us. Our album is called this won’t last forever, and this song is trying to take advantage of this moment to tell that person those feelings.”

The release of “space” follows two of the most recent singles from the upcoming record, “lucid dreaming” and “alibi.” joan is set to release this won’t last forever on September 25th via Photo Finish Records. Pre-save/pre-order is available here
