Jarki Monno wants to know “who took your smile?”

Date:

Singer-songwriter and London native Jarki Monno stuns listeners everywhere with his new single “who took your smile?”. Born out of a time of immense pain, “who took your smile?” is about finding the pivotal moment after experiencing grief when it transforms into reflection and growth.

Monno’s vulnerability in this new single opens the door to his psyche; listeners can fully see his pain and perspective. His entrance into the music industry in 2019 has created ripples with his vulnerable, introspective lyrics. He elaborates,

“I had to hold myself accountable for the journey to being myself again.”

The journey to becoming himself again is just what Monno explores in the new single. A rhetorical question, “who took your smile?” can be thought of in regards to a love one, or to Monno’s inner dialogue. Did he take his own smile? Who’s keeping him from getting it back? These are all thoughts Monno had when reflecting and moving forward in “who took your smile?”.

The lyrics “I’m starting to think that I’m the issue / Hold your sympathy ‘cuz I placed myself in these shoes / After everything I’ve been through, I’m still hating to admit to / That the truth is I’m the center of it all,” explain the epitome of Monno’s thought process in the single. He thinks he is the issue, and he recognizes its his fault, whether he wants to admit it out loud or not.

Listeners hear this song and immediately feel the euphoric feeling of love and grief combined into one emotion. Jarki Monno captured his concerns perfectly in the single, turning his pain and grief into a track that others can relate to.
