Rising alt-pop artist colby! is stepping into her next chapter with the release of her new single, “Small Town Sins,” out now.
Hailing from Fort Worth, Texas, colby! grew up immersed in live music and creative expression. From singing and writing to painting and performing, art became her entire world from a young age. After being diagnosed with severe dyslexia at age eight and spending three years in intensive therapy, she leaned into creative outlets to help her process the world around her. By 14, she was already co-writing with her brother and producer, RJ Johnson, a Berklee College of Music graduate, laying the foundation for the emotionally sharp, car-scream-ready anthems she’s crafting today.
“Small Town Sins” captures a feeling that almost everyone wrestles with at some point: the quiet ache of outgrowing the place that raised you. The song explores that push and pull of coming of age and loving your hometown deeply while simultaneously feeling an undeniable hunger for something bigger. It’s about recognizing that growth requires movement.
For colby!, whose goal is to create songs people can scream in their cars as a form of escape, this release feels like mission accomplished. “Small Town Sins” captures growing pains and turns them into something empowering.
