colby! remains true to herself in new single “Rich Neighborhood”

Date:

Fort Worth native colby! has released “Rich Neighborhood,” an uplifting pop record about refusing to change parts of yourself for someone else.

In “Rich Neighborhood,” the singer-songwriter realizes she will never be the person her romantic partner wants her to be and would rather end the relationship and remain true to herself. In the verses, she sings, “Think you got the wrong impression / I’ll never be your clean cut girl in dresses / Don’t even waste your time / Building it all up in your mind.”

About the inspiration behind the song, colby! says:

“‘Rich Neighborhood’ is about being with someone who’s more in love with the idea of you than who you actually are. They fall for the picture in their head, the lifestyle, the vibe, the aesthetic, but not the actual person standing in front of them, and then get confused when the real you doesn’t match their fantasy.”

Since debuting in 2024 with the single “Don’t Know What To Say,” colby! has already put out two EPs, including this year’s FINE!. She frequently collaborates with her brother, Berklee graduate, RJ Johnson.
