Big Red Machine and Taylor Swift release emotive single “Renegade”

In preparation for their new album How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last? that will be released on August 27, Big Red Machine (the collaboration-fueled project led by Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and The National’s Aaron Dessner) has released a new single with an extremely notable guest: Taylor Swift.

“Renegade” marks the first reunion between the creators of folklore and evermore since folklore ran away with the 2021 Grammys. The song is sonically similar to the more upbeat material on folklore, but Swift’s lyricism on this track truly ascends to another level as she begs in the chorus: “Is it insensitive for me to say ‘Get your shit together so I can love you?’ / Is it really your anxiety that stops you from giving me everything? / Or do you just not want to?” Watch the music video below:
