beabadoobee’s special gift to fans: A fall tour & new album, ‘Pylon’

Date:

September couldn’t arrive fast enough for fans of beabadoobee (Beatrice Laus) as the British-Filipina  star announces not only a fall tour, but also her fourth studio album, Pylon, set to release on September 18. The announcement comes alongside the release of one of new single, “Sun Has Set.”

Acting as the followup to her No.1 UK album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves, the new album is anticipated to be a blaze of electrifying glory, as exemplified by its name: a symbol of the electricity towers that “dot every major artery in the world” representing a wave of forceful new sounds that capture the artist’s experience of anxiety, isolation, and disconnection from herself and loved ones throughout the years of her career.

In a press release, beabadoobee delves deeper into the complexity and intensity of the pre-released single, “Sun Has Set”:

“A lot of the songs on this record are things i wish i could have said to someone…this song [‘sun has set’] has this petty tunnel vision- it’s like, ‘i hate you. you’re gonna stay here and listen to how much i hate you. because i never got to say it.'”

The 14-track album’s exploration into the repetitive struggles of ones mid-20s tackles the question: What if things never change? Is life always going to be this way? In addition to this reflection, a number of featured artists will appear on the album: Hayley Williams on “Nothing to Prove,” Turnstile‘s singer Brendan Yates on “Powerlines,” Pinegrove‘s Evan Stephans HallDeftones‘ Chino MorenoTitle Fight‘s Shane Moran, as well as production credits for Matty Healy and George Daniel of The 1975. With this vast collection of talented artists, Laus has garnered a new artistic vision that she’s prepared to share with the rest of the world.
