When a relationship ends, it’s easy to feel like the entire world is against you somehow. Anger is an all consuming emotion that takes the subtle pink of a relationships rose colored glasses turning them bright red. There are a million songs about being angry post breakup, but not as many about when that anger begins to fade. That’s where Zurich based pop-punk band All To Get Her comes in with their newest single “Cherry Red.”
The band is known for their loud, catchy, and cathartic hooks and “Cherry Red” plays to these strengths. Though where the track really shines is in its thematic element. The band transports us to the exact moment of euphoria when you finally accept that a bad relationship is over. When you look back at all of the frustration you’ve felt and finally acknowledge that it was okay to feel that way. But more so, it’s okay to move forward. There’s no point in rehashing the same issues over and over. The switch from red-hot anger to “Cherry Red” is one of acceptance. It’s the peace in knowing yourself exactly as you are, not as the version of yourself that fits one persons narrative.
