Avery Lynch rises above a breakup on “Think About It”

Date:

Her recent singles, “Rain” and “the boys who don’t know what they want,” have become quick fan-favorites, with over 1M streams between them. Between the intimate piano-driven production, the evocative lyrics, and the original storytelling, these tracks showcase Avery Lynch at her best, even at the times when she might feel at her worst. When it comes down to it, fans relate to these elements of Avery’s music, with each song speaking directly to the thoughts and feelings these listeners are facing. For those who are feeling positive or negative, there is an Avery Lynch song out there that can validate any of those emotions.

On her first-ever self-produced single, “Think About It,” Avery leans more in the middle of positive and negative, as she takes on the role of someone trying to sort through the aftermath of a breakup. Her voice manages to sound so pure and sweet under the confused lyrics, as if she is better than what is going on underneath. Over the stirring piano and light guitar, she sings, “You made me need you / So much I’d lose me with you” and “Were you hoping I’d miss how you caused all of this? / When you left me to just think, think about it.” In the end, she reclaims her power by asking these questions. In the end, she is not the one who has to hurt.

Telling us more about how her sister inspired “Think About It,” Avery shares,

“She came to me with what she was experiencing and feeling and wanted to see if I could make something out of it. The song is ultimately about being left to piece things together after a breakup by yourself—having all of the realizations and none of the answers, and there being nothing to do about it.

“When I first started writing songs as a kid, I would write them about my sisters—how cool they are and how much I love them—and I would give those songs to them as gifts. So, it feels very full circle writing this one for my sister and releasing it.”
