Mad Kelly’s new metal single is a sound for “Sore Eyes”

Date:

Just shy of 3 minutes is Mad Kelly’s latest single “Sore Eyes”, an intense anthem of self-discovery. Mad Kelly is starting off the new year by embarking on his musical journey with a new melody, reevaluating life and the art that surrounds it.

The song begins with a bone-crushing bass and a four-note riff, followed by a distorted electric guitar. For nearly 30 seconds, there is an instrumental until it kicks off with the first lyrics being “COME ON!” He goes on to say that “this is how things work” and admits to the grim realization “we all sell out”.

Addressing the fact that compliments can go unnoticed, the chorus is full of them. “You look so pretty tonight,” the chorus continues. The song is accompanied by a music video (shot by Afflux Studios) in which the band performs in a bright red lockbox, a mysterious hand delivery. It is never revealed who the box is for, implying it may be for the audience. Tackling themes of growth and the ever-changing creative process, “Sore Eyes” is metal’s take on these topics.

“This song feels like home to me every time I play it,” Mad Kelly says. “I hope it brings that same sense of comfort to everyone who listens.”
