beabadoobee finds calm and clarity in new single “Beaches”

Date:

Alternative/indie rock singer-songwriter beabadoobee, whose real name is Beatrice Laus, finds certainty and peace in her life in her latest single “Beaches” off her third studio album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves. The upcoming album is scheduled to be released this Friday, Aug. 9.

beabadoobee is known for crafting indie/alternative music that combines simplicity with deeply affecting earworms, with her Filipina roots profoundly influencing her musical style. Her latest single, “Beaches”, captures a sense of calm and clarity when she finds herself on “the right beaches”. There’s an uncertainty of truths as the singer tries to pick herself up as she falls. In the chorus, she sings, “‘Cause days blend to one when I’m on the right beaches / And the walls painted white, they tell me all the secrets”. She doesn’t want to wait for the perfect moment (“the tide”) to take action (“dip both your feet in”) and rather aims to seek composure and happiness in the present.

The song follows the trajectory of previous This Is How Tomorrow Moves releases, particularly the early 2000s-inspired “Take A Bite” and the euphoric alt-pop track “Ever Seen”. With “Beaches”, Beabadoobee provides listeners with a calming yet poppy alternative rock track. Using beach imagery and white walls to represent places and states of mind, beabadoobee shows us how she conveys a sense of security in embracing moments and taking a leap of faith by finding the right “Beaches.”

beabadoobee will embark on the This Is How Tomorrow Moves Tour in North America this fall, with special guest HOWDY. You can purchase tickets and learn more information here.
