Dropkick Murphys Make Leap Day Visit in Nashville

Date:

A once in a lifetime opportunity presented itself last week in Nashville, Tennessee as Dropkick Murphys visited Marathon Music Works on Feb 29th for their St. Patricks Day Tour. Supporting acts for this tour include The Scratch and Pennywise which gave fans a variety blend of punk and rock guaranteed to leave us wanting more.

Dropkick Murphys formed in 1996 out of Quincy, Massachusetts and since have became known around the world for their Celtic punk style, and impressive stage presence, in Nashville it was no exception. Vocalist, Ken Casey, glides across the stage effortlessly from start to finish, his ability to amp up the crowd is like something you have never seen before, it is purely electric. During the whopping nineteen song setlist, Dropkick Murphys, played all the fan favorites including “The Boys Are Back,” “Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya,” “Rose Tattoo,” “Im Shipping Up To Boston,” and closed out with “Kiss Me, I’m Sh*tfaced.” Alongside their hits they also performed two covers including “T.N.T’ (ACDC), and “The Body of an American” (The Pogues). As the night went on Casey addressed the young fans on the barricade, thanking the adults for protecting them, “This is the future” he stated. The love felt amongst the venue was beautiful, the crowd swayed back and forth with arms around each other, screaming the lyrics as loud as possible. As DKM finished fans stayed around to meet the band at the barricade, the band greeted everyone, signed items, and made sure to spend a special moment with the kids in the crowd. We wish we could have stayed in that moment forever, but Dropkick Murphys is welcome back to Nashville anytime.
