Jiubel runs away from love on “Scooby Doo”

Date:

Attracting fans with his quick wit, dark humor, and incandescent music, Jiubel has quickly become a Gen-Z sensation.  Last year, the indie pop artist went viral with his alt-pop single “Runnin,” which was paired with various memes and promoted on “For You” and “Recommended” pages around the world.  On TikTok, Jiubel is able to entertain his over 2 million followers even further by taking unconventional prompts and turning them into short songs.  It is per the request of one of his followers that Jiubel gives us his latest single, “Scooby Doo.”

Challenged to make a full song using a cartoon sound effect, Jiubel created “Scooby Doo.”  The track is not about characters like Shaggy or Velma, however, but focuses on the concept of love and the way it can push someone to a breaking point.  Using speedy percussion and the “scatter” sound that Scooby Doo fans hear when the Mystery Gang flee from harrowing situations, Jiubel accurately depicts the notion of wanting to run away from love.  Over the energetic production, he sings, “I’m borderline / I’m too close to the edge,” before claiming, “What you do should be a crime.”  You can check it out below.

Telling us more about his ambitions as an artist, Jiubel shares,

“I want to be known as an artist that is able to spread love throughout the world in a way that nobody has ever done before.  My TikTok might be filled with dark humor, but I hope that it allows me to make people feel less alone as they’re going through tough times.  Through my music, I hope to spread love in a different way, the Jiubel way.”

“Scooby Doo” is the second single after “Notice Me” to be released from Jiubel’s upcoming debut EP, which is due to drop in the fall.  You can listen to it on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud.
