Alexa Cappelli looks for true love on “Temporary”

Date:

Deemed the “voice of a generation” by MTV, Alexa Cappelli focuses on creating music that is heartfelt and honest.  In 2019, the rising singer-songwriter shared such enthralling music on her debut EP, The Colors That Make You, before taking fans over to TikTok.  With performance videos and candid posts on the social media platform, Alexa was able to reach monumental heights with subsequent releases, such as her sophomore EP, Confused @ 22, which was released earlier this year.  From there, Alexa dropped her first single with Arista Records, “Could’ve Just Left Me Alone,” just a few months ago, and it has already been streamed over 15 million times.  Following up the release with “Temporary,” Alexa continues to open up and connect with audiences.

On “Temporary,” Alexa reflects on breaking off a “situationship” with someone and the mixed feelings that come with such a move.  Even though this sounds like a heavy topic, the track is actually light and colorful, its indie pop hues mirroring Alexa’s sense of ease with the decision.  With defiant vocals, she sings, “I couldn’t settle, you couldn’t change / It was inevitable this way” and “If we were still together / By now we’d be at each other’s throats.”  It all boils down to what she wants from a relationship, which comes through in the recurring line, “What’s love if it’s temporary?”  You can check it out below.

About the single, Alexa shares,

“‘Temporary’ is a nostalgic song that makes the future of my love life seem less daunting, being proud of myself for knowing what I want and not settling for anything less.  When I wrote ‘Temporary,’ I had finally processed my previous summer situationship and how I ended things.  It was the song I needed to remind myself that I did the right thing by not trying to change them.  I want the kind of love that doesn’t need convincing, the love that is sure on both sides of the street.”

You can listen to “Temporary” on platforms like Apple Music, SoundCloud, and Spotify.
