While Lexi Mariah has only been in the game for a short while, her songs prove that she is here to stay. The pop artist’s ability to emote through compelling lyrics and magnetic melodies appeals to fans who value the same qualities in music from artists like Taylor Swift or Tate McRae, enabling Lexi to successfully follow in their footsteps. Her latest singles “Demons” and “Playlist” have even found support from outlets like EARMILK and PopWrapped, spreading her sound to new audiences. For her next single, “Queen of Broken Hearts,” Lexi captures the edgy side of her artistry to deliver a track that knows no bounds.
Containing charismatic guitar riffs and swoon-worthy harmonies, “Queen of Broken Hearts” is an angelic-sounding pop track that is out for revenge. Over the charming production, Lexi confronts someone who can no longer be trusted, calling this person a “Joker in the dark” and a “Cold-hearted Ace.” Even though she gives us such sweet vocals, and amazing references to card games, we know that she is hurting, singing lines like “Always changing rules, make them fit you as you play / And I know that you live for this madness / Think the whole damn world is your palace.” You can check it out below.
Telling us more about “Queen of Broken Hearts,” Lexi shares,
“I wrote this song when I was in a very confusing ‘up and down’ relationship with someone who would always twist my words, ruin things for themselves, and then try to blame me for their mistakes. This person would constantly try to gaslight me and would always turn situations around to make it seem like I was in the wrong, when it was actually the other way around. Luckily, I was able to see through their ‘manipulativeness’ and would always joke to myself saying, ‘guess I’m the queen of broken hearts’ whenever they were acting ridiculous, which is how I came up with the concept for this song. Lately, I just feel like relationships and even friendships are a gamble, and you truly never know exactly what you’re getting yourself into. Sometimes people in your life will ‘play fair’ and sometimes they won’t. They might try to avoid showing their true colors at first, but the truth, eventually, will always come through.”
