Stand Atlantic played the third night of their sixteen-date UK and Europe headline tour at The Loft venue in Southampton, UK, to a sold-out crowd. Support came from the charismatic UK indie-pop sensation Lauran Hibberd and Sydney alt-punk group The Dead love.
The capacity crowd were clearly in the mood for a party, and Stand Atlantic delivered with their vibrant punk-pop. Known for their stunning live performance and ability to move an audience, this show was no exception. Bonnie had the crowd under her spell, literally everyone in the room crouched down when asked, ready to spring to life on the drop. Bonnie and her guitarist took a piggy-back ride through the crowd to the opposite end of the room, sat on the bar and delivered a slower ballad from there! The energy in the room and the ability of Bonnie to excite a crowd were impressive indeed.
Main support Lauran Hibberd joined Stand Atlantic for one of their songs, and Lauran literally looked like she was having the best time singing with Bonnie. Completely understandable, this is definitely a band to see live. The band played eighteen songs, ending with their latest single “Molotov”, the crowd exploded.
Main support was from Lauran Hibberd, who was clearly loved by the 300-capacity crowd. Lauran is known for her witty self-aware humour, energetic performances, and very cool outfit choices. All were in great supply tonight. Lauran’s band had a few “techy problems” but she was quick to add lib the gap stating she was now “converting to a comedy set”, and indeed delivered us a few jokes.
Laruan’s superb performance was a remind why she’s been recently signed, is getting national radio play, and is a festival favourite. She played eight songs, including a new one, “I’m Insecure” from her imminent debut album. It might just be her best song yet, and if this is an indication of the direction for the album, we can’t wait for its release.
Final support came from The Dead Love, opening the evening with a great show, evidence of their decade of experience as a band. They are three mates from Sydney, who “play loud punk grunge and all suck at surfing!”
