Underoath takes us on a ride to ‘The Place After This One’

Date:

Underoath has always been a band unafraid to push boundaries, but their latest album, ‘The Place After This One’, marks a thrilling leap into uncharted territory. Released today, March 28, 2025, via MNRK HEAVY the album is a sonic evolution that blends their signature metalcore intensity with innovative electronic textures, all while maintaining the raw emotion that have defined their career.

One of the standout features of this album is Underoath’s  flawless integration of electronic elements with their metalcore foundation. Tracks like “Loss” and “Teeth” showcase this blend seamlessly, combining crushing breakdowns with synth layers, creating a dynamic listening experience that feels broad yet personal. The use of electronics enhances the emotional depth of the album, adding texture and mood without overpowering the band’s core sound. Songs like “Generation No Surrender” are filled with urgency, blending melodic hooks with heavy rhythms that feel enpowering. The soaring chorus is an immediate highlight, capturing the intensity and vulnerability that Underoath is known for. It’s a perfect example of the band’s ability to evolve while staying true to what makes them unique.

Vocalist Spencer Chamberlain’s lyrics explore themes of loss, redemption, and  reflection, offering listeners a glimpse into the band’s emotional journey. There’s an underlying sense of hope despite the darkness that haunts many of the tracks.

When speaking on the new album Chamberlain states, “I’m proud of every record we’ve created and wholeheartedly stand behind all of them, but I haven’t felt this way about an album since Define the Great Line. I’ll never forget the feeling I had the first time we listened to that album together. Listening back to The Place After This One, every hair on my body stood on end again.

In 2025, Underoath will be visiting Australia for the first time since 2019, performing They’re Only Chasing Safety in its entirety along with an encore set, as direct support for Alexisonfire. Soon after their visit in Australia, the band will return to North America for a run of shows supporting Rise Against and Papa Roach as part of their Rise of the Roach tour. The band will also be performing at Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival on May 10, 2025 in Columbus, OH and at Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, FL on May 16, 2025.
