Nashville alt-pop songstress ENZI pays homage to her influences and where she came from in her new single “Time Flies.”
The self-penned musical love child of Taylor Swift and Hayley Williams, “Time Flies” is a musical integration of an ethereal depiction fused with a deeply personal truth – perhaps the songwriter’s most personal writing. Produced and co-written by trusted friends Bobby Campbell and Jeff Cohen (Macy Gray, The Band Perry, Sugarland), and mastered by Nathan Dantzler (Vince Gill, Niall Horan, Lady A), “Time Flies” is a depiction of all of the feelings felt during a year of isolation during the pandemic.
The Colorado native states, “In the last year, I struggled so much to find any motivation to just get out of bed. The crumbling world felt like it was crumbling all on top of me and it was completely paralyzing, emotionally and physically. After finally opening up to some others, I realized I was not alone. I wanted to write a song that encapsulated this feeling of total isolation, overwhelming apathy, and complete mental paralysis. I know they say “time flies when you’re having fun!” But time also flies when you’re mentally withdrawn.”
The 2020’s “Retrograde” and “Mad Chemistry” are the latest single’s edgy predecessors that initially set the tone for ENZI’s introduction into the music industry. Listen to all three of those songs here.
This single also follows the singer + songwriter’s debut single “Flipside” in 2018, which then awarded her with multiple syncs across MTV, support from iHeartRadio, a top-five slot at KTCL 93.3’s Big Gig in Colorado, and an opening slot at KTCL’s Not So Silent Night Christmas showcase. Her recent music has scored her reviews from Colorado Public Radio, BlackBook, UPROXX, Alternative Press, Today in Nashville, Popular, and Westwood. She has performed alongside The Head and The Heart, Walk The Moon, Fitz and The Tantrums, and more.
