Live Photos + Review – Taking Back Sunday Take on Boston Night Two

Date:

Taking Back Sunday made their return to Boston for two sold out shows at The House of Blues. This tour is special for Taking Back Sunday as they are celebrating being a band for 20 years this year. Taking Back Sunday have been such a pivotal band in the early emo scene and continue to take the world by storm 20 years later. The band released their new album this January titled Twenty, which is a whopping twenty-one song collection that includes nineteen songs from all seven of their previously released albums. It also features two new songs “All Ready To Go” and “A Song For Dan”. While the album celebrates the band being together for twenty years, it also celebrates the defining moments in their career that got them to where they are today. It explores the band’s story though all of their albums like 2002’s Tell All Your Friends, 2004’s Where You Want To Be, 2006’s Louder Now, 2009’s New Again, 2011’s Taking Back Sunday, and 2016’s Tidal Wave.

Taking Back Sunday wanted to do something special for this tour as thank you to the fans for sticking around for twenty years. At each show the band would play their pivotal debut album Tell All Your Friends in its entirety while also playing fan favorites from their discography. In this instance Boston was lucky because in towns where the band would play two shows, the fans got treated to the choice of them playing either Where You Want To Be or Louder Now in their entirety. The band had a special coin they designed for the tour to flip at each show to decide which album they would play that night. Night one in Boston got to hear Where You Want To Be, while here at night two the crowd was treated to Louder Now. Before Taking Back Sunday took the stage on night two, the crowd was treated to stellar performances by opening acts Destry and Red City Radio who got the crowd off their feet, you could feel the energy in the building. It came time for Taking Back Sunday to grace the stage and they did so to the screams of the crowd. They played Tell All Your Friends in its entirety first, featuring a duet with Michelle DaRosa on “Bike Scene”, as well as “Ghost Man on Third” to the crowds delight. They then went on to play the choice of the night with Louder Now in its entirety, which the crowd was buzzing about. They played hit tracks off of that like “MakeDamnSure”, and “Liar (It Takes On To Know One)”. The crowd was loving every single moment of it and you could really feel their energy the entire night. The band closed out an amazing night with an encore featuring a Weezer cover (“My Name is Jonas”), and ending it on a fan favorite  “A Decade Under The Influence” to a burst of confetti that covered the crowd.. It was quite the way to end such a bittersweet night full of memories that will last a lifetime. There’s no slowing down Taking Back Sunday anytime soon. They will continue to take the world by storm for many years to come, so don’t miss out on their journey! Check out photos taken from night two in Boston below!
