Weakened Friends releases garage-rock sneer and punk spirit track “Tough Luck (Bleed Me Out)”

Date:

Portland, Maine’s Weakened Friends Cam Jones are back and more feral than ever with “Tough Luck (Bleed Me Out),” the lead single from their upcoming album Feels Like Hell, due October 10, 2025, via Don Giovanni Records. The track clocks in at just over two minutes but wastes none of it, blistering with distorted guitars and the raw-throated vocals of Sonia Sturino, who sounds like they’re clawing their way out of a collapsing world.

“Tough Luck (Bleed Me Out)” tears through themes of emotional detachment and disillusionment with a garage-rock sneer and punk spirit, echoing the unfiltered intensity of bands like Mannequin Pussy or early Sleater-Kinney. “Bleed me out / Tough luck,” Sonia chants, weaponizing exhaustion into defiance. It’s an anthem for anyone who’s sick of pretending they’re fine, delivered with a velocity that mirrors the burnout it describes.

This new era marks a stark shift from their 2021 album Quitter. “Tough Luck (Bleed Me Out)” captures this shift in spirit. The song is a rejection of emotional numbness, a primal scream in a world that demands silence. Sturino’s vocals are unflinching and Annie Hoffman’s basslines rumble beneath Adam Hand’s unrelenting drums. The production is gritty and immediate, placing listeners right in the rehearsal room, sweat-soaked and wide-eyed.

If this single is any indication, Feels Like Hell promises to be Weakened Friends at their most instinctual and unfiltered. As the band leans harder into their DIY ethos and post-pop-punk roots, they’re also proving that even in the wreckage, there’s still something worth shouting about.
