viisi is a genre-fluid artist often exploring the depths of alt-pop, hip-hop, and indie depending on the mood that strikes him. His latest single “paradise” is a pop-tinged reverie on an intoxicating relationship that left him with a hangover of emotions. Chronicling the intense highs and crushing lows of young love, viisi writes about wishing he could just escape with his person rather than letting the world push them down.

“paradise” captivates with rolling riffs, pulsating beats, and a textural array of vocals that add dimension to the idyllic scene. viisi sings, “I wanna ruin your life while you take mine / Let’s ditch this town while we hitch a ride to paradise.” He notes on the destructive nature of love that often clouds our perception of the real world. “paradise” represents a hideaway at the peak of a relationship, perfect in our own imaginations, but fleeting before we open our eyes to face reality.

Revealing more on his track, viisi confides, “I used to be in this relationship where this girl’s parents absolutely hated me because I made music, they thought I was going to corrupt their daughter. We always talked about running away and finding a place away from the chaos but we were too chaotic ourselves, we would always fight and eventually the love died. I wonder if she ever found her paradise…”
viisi will be performing at this year’s Summerfest on June 21st. He has collaborated with acclaimed vocalists Chelsea Collins and Kayla DiVenere. “paradise” is his new release.
