townsend Releases Country Summer Track, “death of me”

Date:

Nashville’s John Townsend, best known as townsend, released his newest track, “death of me”, on June 27. The track is part of an upcoming country EP he plans to release later this year.

Along with the song release, Townsend released a lyric video on YouTube. The video features the lit cigarette Townsend likens his love interest to in the song. The video has amassed nearly 500 views since its premiere last week.

The song is well-produced– Townsend knows how to craft a catchy summer country tune. The track focuses on being addicted to someone, even if it is anything but good for you. Townsend sings, “‘Cause she’s a lit cig and I’m a chain-smoker chasing my fix / The cut brakes and I’m a truck headed straight for the cliff”. The track ends with Townsend singing, “That girl / Is making me rethink it all / That girl / Yeah she’s gonna be the / Death of me”.
