Thrice announces new album ‘Horizons/West’ and continues decades-long legacy

Date:

The iconic post-hardcore band Thrice has returned with their highly anticipated new album, Horizons/West, set to release on October 3, 2025.

The album announcement comes alongside the release of the band’s searing lead single, “Gnash,” and serves as a companion album to the 2021 album Horizons/East. While Horizons/West continues the band’s sonic evolution and philosophical lyricism, it stands firmly on its own in Thrice’s extensive discography. Frontman Dustin Kensrue shares,

“This is the first time we leaned into something that felt like a direct continuation, like a sequel to a previous album.”

The new album weaves a blend of cinematic post-rock, intricate rhythms, and a raw urgency that fans will find reminiscent of their earlier works, creating an album that is as confrontational as it is introspective. Horizons/West delves into personal identity, societal manipulation, technological anxiety, and spiritual awakening. Kensrue further explains that “a lot of this record is about parsing reality.”

“We’re constantly being influenced by algorithms, by fear, by our own social echo chambers. Horizons/West tries to pull the curtain back on some of that. We’ve always just followed our curiosity, wherever it leads.”

Following the release of Horizons/West, the band will begin a nationwide headline tour joined by bands Modern Color and Downward. Kicking off on October 17 in San Diego, CA, and wrapping up back in California on November 23, tickets for the tour and further information are available now

Thrice first emerged onto the scene in the late 90s with a sound that took the hardcore grit of their predecessors and spun it with guitar-led melodies and progressive ambition to become pioneers of a new genre – post-hardcore. From the underground punk scene to signing with labels, Thrice has built a legacy that they are reaffirming and pushing forward with the release of Horizons/West
