Slipknot announce 25th anniversary edition of debut album and share “Prosthetics (Demo)”

Date:

Slipknot has announced a deluxe reissue of their seminal self-titled debut album in honor of its 25th anniversary, due on Sept. 5 via Roadrunner Records. The record immortalizes the band’s creative process, from their inception as a newly signed, blossoming metal act to an unstoppable cultural force that redefined heavy music for a new generation.

The album comprises a total of 59 recordings, including Slipknot’s legendary Indigo Ranch demos/mixes, live versions and other rarities, with 40 of them previously unreleased. A limited edition box set with 100 blood-filled vinyl pressings was released to fans earlier this week via the heavy metal band’s secret site, 742617000027.net, and sold out within seconds. A 6LP Box Set with blood splattered vinyl and nine new Slipknot collectors’ photo cards (limited to 1899 copies) and additional 2LP, 2CD, and digital formats are available for pre-order here. The album also features new artwork and unseen imagery sourced from the group’s archives, showcasing the full story behind the recording of the iconic record.

Ahead of the full release, Slipknot shared the demo version of “Prosthetics,” which was recorded before their Indigo Ranch sessions with producer Ross Robinson and features a raw cut of the sinister track.

While the cult classic debut album set the tone for the nine-piece group’s colossal career, the beating heart of Slipknot lies within their live performances. Slipknot (25th Anniversary Edition) features live recordings from their 1999 show on a small stage in Hartford, CT and a 2000 UK mainstage performance, both capturing the group’s intense and unbridled raw power regardless of the size of the crowd. Pre-save for the album is available here
