It may no longer be February, but love is certainly still in the air for Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco. The couple released their joint album I Said I Love You First in March. Now, the pair is teaming up with Vevo to release a short film of the same name as the album as part of Vevo’s Extended Play series.
The short film will feature several songs off the album, including “Sunset Blvd,” “How Does it Feel to be Forgotten,” and “Scared of Loving You.” To accompany these songs is an interview with Gomez and Blanco, who give us a deep dive into their creative process, communication styles, and journey as a couple.
Vevo Extended Play aims to give breath to the artist’s full vision by marrying location, atmosphere, and music. Gomez and Blanco’s short film opens up in their home and moves through the rooms where I Said I Love You First came to fruition. During the short film they can be seen in the kitchen, tossing compliments back and forth while discussing the intricacies of songwriting. Blanco explains,
The easiest thing about this process is being able to know that once I’ve completed a song (well, not really completed, because it’s never really complete) that your notes are always extremely generous and never dismissive of the qualities I do have, you know?”
Gomez adds,
“Rather than saying I want you to sound like something that I simply can’t sound like, you’re really good at making sure that it sounds authentic.”
