Sam Setton’s new electro-pop “Mexico” single takes us somewhere warmer this winter

Date:

A chill, electronic pop single detailing the excitement of a new relationship is Sam Setton’s new single “Mexico”. Setton’s breathy vocals describe the narrative of finding new love, the spontaneity existing within a new relationship and the uncertainty of where it may lead.

A bass drum and keys kick off the song as the title is referenced in the first line of the song. Setting sings, “I took you to Mexico / Had to sneak you out your house just so you can see the world”. The first verse continues as the pre chorus picks up tempo. “Now that you’re in it, babe, my life feels different”, the chorus goes, accompanied by the keys, bass, and a new five note synth in the background.

The second verse lyrically shows how a new relationship can go in either direction. As two people spend more and more time together, they are able to see if they are compatible in the long term. “I know that we could do this right / Tried my best to keep it light”. Setton expresses relationship stages, like sharing clothes, telling your parents about one another. It also hints at what happens after the break up, what you tell your parents and what you tell yourself.

Sam Setton is based in New York City. Born and raised there, he has been singing and songwriting since his early teens. Recently signed with Paradigm Talent Agency, “Mexico” will be Setton’s first release since his last release “Obsessed”.
