Royal Tusk refuse to give in with “ARMISTICE”

Date:

They have built a reputation as one of Canada’s most compelling forces in the modern rock music realm, and after over a decade in the game, Royal Tusk is still going strong. The band has earned six radio singles in Canada’s Top 40 Active Rock chart across their three studio albums, and their 2018 hit “Aftermath” landed at #24 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart. Music aside, Royal Tusk are a crowd pleaser on tour, consistently delivering engaging, high-energy sets. Their performance total is well over the 500 show mark, and they have brought their shows to 17 countries. Whether fans have turned out to a Mastodon concert, an Of Mice & Men show, or a Badflower tour, they have probably been able to see Royal Tusk in action, as the band has shared the stage with these artists and more. They are about to set out with Three Days Grace and Finger Eleven in the spring, but before they do so, they are giving us their new single, “ARMISTICE.”

Royal Tusk hit us right out of the gate with their relentless rock style on “ARMISTICE,” as drums and compelling guitar riffs usher us into the track. From there, a dark and cinematic tension sets in, providing the right accompaniment to the lyrics. Here, the band taps into reflection and a refusal to give into uncertainty with lines like, “There’s something to believe in / But only if you feel it” and “The truth can be deceiving / But only when you see it.” You can check it out below.

About the track, lead vocalist and guitarist Daniel Carriere explains,

“I continually found myself wrestling with the question of free will—is life predetermined, or do we have the ability to alter our fate? While this question is impossible to answer definitively, ‘ARMISTICE’ addresses this battle directly by proclaiming, ‘I will not resign myself to a designed existence.’”
