Rose Avenue drops their first summer single “spaceship”

Date:

Indie-pop fourpiece Rose Avenue releases their newest single “spaceship,” a fun and dancey single perfect for the summer season.

The song begins with a fade-in and a distinct, upbeat, and undeniably catchy guitar riff before delving into its comedically contradicting lyrics. These lyrics from the get-go detail the clumsiness and inadvertent awkwardness of the “mediocre no-shows.” Lead singer Langdon Dearborn playfully sings about someone who might rather distance themselves, increasing the chance they miss out on something. Distance is a theme throughout the song in space metaphors and multiple telescope and moon footprint mentions. The track leads to the bridge with constant backing vocals, “You know I’m right,” until the chorus and guitar riff comes back at the end.

Dearborn says “There was this really wild fuzzy guitar sound I got by turning an old amp up to ten. It was a challenge to turn that into a song, but we really wanted to get a melody stuck in people’s heads and make them dance.”

Rose Avenue’s latest single mimics the lighthearted and uptempo sounds of their inspirations, COIN and Dayglow, with their own unique lyrically ironic twists. The single can be found on all streaming platforms today, July 7th with their music video following soon after.
