Phoebe Bridgers and Conor Oberst Release Surprise Album As Better Oblivion Community Center

Date:

2019 has quickly brought its share of impressive music, and today Phoebe Bridgers and Conor Oberst have released a surprise self-titled album from their new band Better Oblivion Community Center.

The ten-song effort follows a series of collaborations between Bridgers and Oberst — whether it be their tours together or guest spots on each other’s tracks, the two artists have been circling each other for some time now. Better Oblivion Community Center, then, is a marvelous display of collaboration that further cements each artist as a master of their craft. (Side note — Bridgers also participated in last year’s boygenius EP with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus. This woman is on another level when it comes to musical output right now.) The duo premiered the album through an appearance on Colbert, which you can watch below in addition to streaming the album on Spotify.

Better Oblivion Community Center is out now on Dead Oceans, and one can only hope that a tour is announced soon. You can see our prior coverage of Phoebe live in Birmingham here.
