Michigan metalcore outfit Of Virtue return with purpose on their new single “The Art of Love,” out now via Arising Empire. Following the impact of “Death of the Altar,” the track continues to shape what’s becoming a defining run for the band.
This time, though, the focus shifts. Where the last single examined self-destruction from within, “The Art of Love” looks outward at relationships that take more than they give and the slow unraveling that follows. Co-written with Lee Albrecht and Evan McKeever, the song expands on the band’s ongoing themes of addiction, mental health, and the emotional cost tied to both.
Vocalist and guitarist Damon Tate frames the track as a grounded reflection on shared experience. It questions how people assign value to themselves and why they remain in cycles that do more harm than good. The message is clear: love can be powerful, but without balance, it can become destructive.
Musically, the band stays locked into the blend that has driven their recent momentum: heavy, controlled, and melodic without losing tension. That balance was central to their 2023 album OMEN, a release that has surpassed 65 million streams and introduced the band to a wider global audience.
That growth has carried onto the stage, with Of Virtue sharing bills with Slipknot, Bad Omens, and Three Days Grace while continuing to use their platform to speak openly about mental health.
Together, “Death of the Altar” and “The Art of Love” signal the next phase of the band’s evolution and offer a glimpse at their upcoming fourth album. Rather than pulling back, Of Virtue lean further into the uncomfortable, confronting the realities of love, loss, and self-worth with clarity and intent. With “The Art of Love,” they don’t just continue their momentum; they sharpen it, turning lived experience into something direct, resonant, and impossible to ignore.
