Bringing the southern grit, soul, and storytelling, Whiskey Myers brought his What We Were Born To Do tour to Knoxville, TN.
Pony Bradshaw opened the evening with a captivating, soul-soaked set that felt less like a performance and more like a gathering of old friends swapping stories under dim lights. Blending tracks from Sudden Opera with newer gems, Bradshaw’s voice carried lyrics rich with restless questions and Southern imagery, leaving the crowd stirred and reflective. Kashus Culpepper followed, hitting the stage like a freight train with a voice that sounded like it was cut from weathered oak. His commanding presence and raw, hard-hitting originals turned the room into a revival tent, equal parts reckoning and celebration.
Then came Whiskey Myers. The Texas powerhouse tore into their headlining set with unrelenting swagger, igniting the crowd with fan-favorites like “Gasoline,” “Frogman,” and “Home.” The six-piece outfit delivered a relentless string of riff-heavy anthems, including “Bury My Bones,” “Time Bomb,” and the crowd-beloved “Broken Window Serenade.” Each song hit like a shot of adrenaline, their signature fusion of country soul and hard southern rock lighting up the night. They closed with a searing cover of Jeff Beck Group’s “Going Down,” leaving the room on fire and proving yet again why Whiskey Myers remains one of the fiercest live acts in American roots music.
