Night Tapes release penultimate single “projections” ahead of upcoming EP

Date:

When you listen to London dream pop trio Night Tapes, you are instantly transported to an ethereal world full of wonder and possibilities. By combining lush nighttime soundscapes with starry synth and pensive instrumentals, Night Tapes are successfully able to achieve the escapist sound they are looking for, all while creating a place that fans can call home. Last year, Max Doohan, Sam Richards, and Iiris Vesik released their third EP, Perfect Kindness, a six-track project that received much acclaim throughout the summer while the group was on tour in Europe and the UK. Towards the end of the year, Night Tapes began to tease their upcoming EP, assisted memories, with the release of “drifting.” Set to drop on June 7, assisted memories will also feature “loner” and recent single “every day is a game,” which continue to grow in popularity every day. As they get closer to the release of assisted memories, Night Tapes are still cranking out highly infectious and otherworldly singles like “projections,” the penultimate track from the EP.

Immersing us in the cool and colorful sounds of the 80s, “projections” makes for a perfect soundtrack to a night out with those you love. It’s glittery and meditative, the synth and smooth grooves helping bring out the thoughtful lyrics. With delicate yet melodic vocals, Iiris sings, “I was dancing with projections” and “To be an impossibly beautiful girl / In an impossible world / To be an impossibly beautiful boy / In an impossible world,” filling listeners with drama and splendor all at the same time. You can check it out below.

About “projections,” Iiris shares,

“Sometimes you find in yourself what you seek in others. Fascination always includes a projection, but it could be just a word to undermine other people’s emotional realities. If you’re in love with someone and you call it a projection, then you just take all the fun out of it as you’re undermining the feeling of participating in the relationship.”

You can listen to “projections” on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud.
