Night Talks and Cory Wong team up for a track you can’t resist, “Targets”

Date:

Los Angeles-based indie outfit Night Talks are back with their latest single, “Targets”, released August 8, featuring guitar virtuoso Cory Wong. Known for their shimmering blend of alt-rock and indie pop, Night Talks continue to carve their space in the modern music with a track that’s you can’t resist to dance to.

Formed by lifelong friends from across LA, Night Talks built their sound on the influences of Fleetwood Mac, LCD Soundsystem, and Queens of the Stone Age. With “Targets,” they tap into a more funk-infused palette, layering tight rhythms with a glistening guitar line courtesy of Wong, whose work with Vulfpeck and The Fearless Flyers has made him a modern funk icon.

“Targets” explores the tension between paranoia and self-awareness. Frontwoman Soraya Sebghati delivers lines like, “I’ve got a target on my back” and “It’s not real you said / It’s in my head” with an urgency that captures both the weight of imagined threats and the attempt to shake them off.

This release follows a string of 2025 singles, including “Gasoline” in May, and continues the momentum built since their 2022 album Same Time Tomorrow. With a clear sense of artistic direction and a growing catalog of vibrant, genre-blurring tracks, Night Talks seem poised for a standout year.

Fans can catch “Targets” live during the band’s upcoming tour, with dates including:
Aug 15 – Substation, Seattle, WA
Aug 26 – The Moroccan Lounge, Los Angeles, CA
Sep 11 – Warehouse XI, Somerville, MA
Sep 12 – Silk City, Philadelphia, PA
Sep 14 – Berlin Under A, New York, NY

The band will additionally be heading out on tour to supprrt COUCH on their Big Talk Tour.
