Indie rock quintet The Last Dinner Party released their witchy single, “Big Dog,” on May 8. A poem, “Come All You Beasts,” precedes the single.
Lead singer Abigail Morris chants out a spell set to the beat of a thumping, anxiety-inducing drum that teleports straight into “Big Dog.” A fan favorite, the pair of tracks has been performed live since 2023 but has finally received studio production. This collection marks the band’s first production credit, which they produced alongside Animesh Raval.
Currently on their US headline tour, the London musicians dropped their second studio album, From The Pyre, in late 2025. The album sets a grungy tone over themes of feminine power and rebirth. “Big Dog” feels like an artistic extension of the album’s story.
Calling themselves a “big dog,” the women challenge the public’s initial perception of them as industry plants and position themselves as wielding higher power. Morris howls distorted vocal belts through gritty electric guitars, giving the track a cultish feel. “I am hunting you down / Mechanical rabbit, let me put you out,” she sings, referring to the band shutting down rumors of nepotism getting them their fame and success.
The women are set to continue touring after their From The Pyre Tour. From October to November 2026, they’ll support sombr’s You Are The Reason Tour in the US — tickets are available here. The Last Dinner Party’s opening act continues in early 2027 for Olivia Rodrigo’s The Unraveled Tour. Find tickets here.
